AN INSPIRATIONAL AUTHOR . . .
FOR YOUR INSPIRATIONAL JOURNEY
Hi, my name is Dave Schofield and I am a type 2 diabetic. I haven’t cured it, resolved it, or made it disappear.
Once a diabetic, always a diabetic.
But I have tamed the beast for now and my diabetes is technically in remission. What this means is that my diabetes is being controlled by diet and exercise and that I have been off diabetic medication since September 2017. If the regime changes and I revert to my previous lifestyle then back come the drugs and the danger . . .
I have some claims to fame.
In my teens and twenties, I was successful in semi-professional sport, namely rugby and cricket. In 1993, at the age of thirty, I ran the London Marathon and was the fastest fatty on the course (18 stones 3 lbs – 4 hours 6 minutes and 36 seconds). I have written novels, plays and short stories, have achieved many medals in the corporate world, and I am also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist HPD DSFH MNCH (Reg) AfSFH CMP (NLP) EMDR BA Hons, practising since 2012. And I love a dance – Latin, Ballroom, Salsa and Bachata.
Here is my most staggering claim to fame:
In the last three decades I have lost over eight stones on a diet . . . TWICE!
Now, whilst there are some people bowing, doffing their caps and clapping in awe, there may be others thinking, ‘what a daft lummox he is, putting on so much weight . . . TWICE!‘
And they’d both be right, wouldn’t they?
I am a fine example of a human being, a life filled with a roller coaster of lows and highs, everyday struggles and jubilation, failing and coping, losing and winning.
I know what it is to battle with the human experience; I know how we suffer but I also know how to fight, how to win and how to turn the tables on adversity.
Who wouldn’t want a resource like that?!
